    Description of the need

The pressing challenges associated with oil-contaminated waste management have necessitated innovative solutions such as Ennox Technology’s EGX Demo and EGX 10. Traditional waste management approaches, while prevalent, often have significant environmental implications, potentially leading to contamination of ground and water sources, and undesirable greenhouse gas emissions. Regulatory environments across the globe are evolving rapidly, with stringent waste management standards becoming the norm. Such practices, although necessary for environmental protection, often come at a high operational cost to industries. The EGX solutions provide a technologically advanced alternative. Designed to operate without deleterious chemicals, these units not only mitigate environmental risks but also enhance operational efficiencies. Their capability to extract and facilitate the resale of oil from waste can introduce potential revenue streams for industries, optimizing their economic performance. Additionally, the inherent design and mobility of the EGX units facilitate on-site waste treatment, thus reducing the logistical overhead and further diminishing the environmental footprint. In the context of contemporary industrial operations, where both regulatory compliance and operational efficiency are paramount, the EGX Demo and EGX 10 emerge as relevant and timely solutions.

    Description of the solution

Ennox Green Extraction (EGX) Solutions Overview

Ennox Technology presents an innovative approach to waste management of oil-contaminated solids through its Ennox Green Extraction (EGX) solutions. At its core, EGX promises a groundbreaking design tailored to cater to the high expectations of end users. Factors like cost-effectiveness, efficient extraction rates, reduced energy consumption, and minimal environmental impact are key selling points. Notably, the technology behind EGX do not rely on chemicals and ensures zero harmful emissions, like CO2. An added bonus is the potential to sell the extracted oil commercially.

The EGX solutions come in two versions:

    EGX Demo Unit

Design: Skid-based, making it convenient for setup and testing by potential clients.

Capacity: Handles 1 – 3 tons per hour.

    Output Quality:

    • Oil: Untouched by the cavitation process, the extracted oil retains its properties, allowing it to be returned to the market.

    • Sand: Meets emission requirements for disposal, meaning it can be safely discarded without extra steps.

    • Water: The quality of the processed water reaches commercial standards.

    Specifications:

    • Size: 20ft container, weighing 5,000kg.

    • Power Needs: Ranges from 30-45kW with a voltage between 400 – 690VAC at 50/60Hz.

    • Processing: Capable of handling 1 – 10 tons/h with a design pressure of 10 Bar.

    • Certifications: DNV 2.7-1 for the container and Norsok Z-015 for general design, among others.

    EGX 10 Unit

    • Design: Container-based system, offering a larger and more powerful version of the EGX solution.

    • Capacity: Processes between 5 – 10 tons per hour.

    Output Quality:

    • Oil: Extracted oil remains pure, making it suitable for re-entry to the market.

    • Sand: Ready for direct disposal due to its safe emission standards.

    • Water: Meets commercial standards.

    Specifications:

    Size: 40ft container, weighing 15,000kg.

    Power Needs: Ranges from 100-150kW with a voltage of 400 – 690VAC at 50/60Hz.

    • Processing: Similar to the Demo unit, with a design pressure of 10 Bar.

    • Certifications: Features certifications like DNV 2.7-1 for the container and Norsok Z-015 for general design.

Both units are designed to be mobile, enabling on-site waste treatment, cutting down on transportation impacts. Their portability and effective design make them a game-changer in the realm of waste management.

    Description of the effect

Ennox Technology’s innovative solutions, EGX Demo and EGX 10, offer a transformative approach to oil-contaminated waste management, embedding sustainability at the core of their operations.

Eco-friendly processing: Both the EGX Demo and EGX 10 stand out in their environmentally-conscious design. Instead of relying on chemicals or high heat, which can be detrimental to the environment, these units use a cavitation process. This not only ensures the integrity of the extracted oil but also mitigates the release of harmful by-products like CO2.

Resource reusability: Beyond just cleaning waste, the EGX systems are designed to extract and repurpose valuable resources. The oil extracted can be reintroduced into the market, providing a dual benefit of waste reduction and resource optimization. Moreover, the separated sand conforms to emission requirements, allowing it to be safely reintroduced to the environment without additional processing. The water output meets quality standards, presenting opportunities for commercial use or safe discharge.

On-site efficiency: Transporting waste can be both environmentally damaging and costly. With the EGX Demo and EGX 10 designed to be portable and easily deployable, Ennox provides the opportunity for on-site waste management. This reduces the carbon footprint associated with transportation and ensures rapid, local treatment of contaminated sites.

Scalability with integrity: The EGX solutions are not just efficient but also scalable. Housed within standard-sized containers, they can be rapidly deployed across multiple sites. This ensures that as demand grows, the sustainable impact can be amplified without compromising on the quality of waste management.

Green recognition: The Seal of Excellence from the European Union serves as a testament to the sustainable impact of these solutions. Meeting the high standards of Horizon 2020’s evaluation, it is clear that the EGX systems are making a tangible difference in the quest for greener waste management solutions.

The EGX Demo and EGX 10 by Ennox Technology are thus not just products; they are beacons of sustainable innovation in waste management. By minimizing environmental harm, maximizing resource reusability, and offering scalable and efficient solutions, they pave the way for a more sustainable future in the realm of oil-contaminated waste treatment.

    Company/companies that offer the innovation

Based in Norway, Ennox Technology stands at the forefront of clean-tech innovation, specializing in the efficient recovery of oil from drill cuttings, contaminated soil, and similar residues. With a solid foundation in industrial engineering, Ennox has been dedicated to confronting one of the oil industry’s most pressing challenges: managing oil-contaminated waste. This commitment began in 2010 when Ennox collaborated with the University of Wismar, Germany, and Allum Industries of Sandefjord to explore eco-friendly oil waste treatment methods. This quest for innovation gained momentum in 2014 with a partnership with Canada’s Secure Services (SES). Together, they conceptualized a transformative technique using cavitation for oil residue cleanup. After rigorous testing across diverse regions, including the North Sea, Canada, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, and China, by 2015, this method had evolved into a tangible solution. The subsequent years saw the creation of two advanced models, later adopted by Kazakhstan and China. Between 2017 and 2018, these prototypes underwent enhancements, optimizing their capabilities to unparalleled standards.

However, addressing the oil industry’s waste challenge is not straightforward. The sector has historically produced vast amounts of contaminated waste, leading to both economic and environmental dilemmas. Traditional methods involved either landfill disposal or expensive, environmentally harmful treatments. As global environmental regulations tighten, there is a heightened need for sustainable waste management solutions. Responding to this, Ennox introduced the Ennox Green Extraction (EGX). Housed within a 20-foot container, this mobile unit is a beacon of efficiency and sustainability. Without resorting to heat or chemicals, EGX can almost wholly extract hydrocarbons, processing up to 10 tons of waste per hour. Moreover, its environmental benefits are complemented by economic ones, as the treated waste can be repurposed or sold. Through a blend of expertise, innovation, and environmental stewardship, Ennox Technology emerges as a pioneering force in sustainable and cost-effective solutions for oil-contaminated waste.
